Open Panel at EuARe2026
Call for Papers
30/06 – 03/07/2026
We are pleased to host an Open Panel in Rome as part of EuARe2026 (title: Religions and (in)equalities). Under the title Religion and Work-Related Migration: Religious Actors and Critical Religious Perspectives, we will discuss submitted papers from our various subprojects as well as from other scholars.
From Subproject 1, Prof. Christof Mandry and Moritz Broghammer will explore whether and how the idea of the global common good can provide normative guidance for the international regulation of healthcare professional recruitment. Lisa Neubauer (Subproject 2), by contrast, addresses what differences can be identified in recruitment practices between Christian and non-religious actors in Germany and to what extent ethical implications can be derived from them.
Subproject 3, represented by Leonie Uliczka and Prof. Jonas Hagedorn, finally discusses—analogous to the Mexican context—which arguments for the (de-)legitimation of healthcare professional recruitment are put forward by church-based and non-religious actors, and how these can be ethically evaluated against the backdrop of the moral and political positions of the tradition of Catholic social teaching.
The Call for Papers is open until March 13, 2026. Interested applicants can submit their paper via the EuARe portal. We look forward to exciting submissions and stimulating discussions! In accordance with the conference language, we can only accept papers written in English. Further information can be found via the links listed below:
